Timeline of the PMI-PBA® Certification Process


After you've started your application, you have 90 days to complete it and there are another 5 days for application completeness review. If your application is selected for the audit process, you will have 90 days to send your audit materials. PMI processes audit material during 5-7 days. The eligibility period starts upon the successful completion of the audit.

Here we start the applicant payment process, you can't schedule an exam until you pay credential fees.

The multiple-choice examination eligibility is 1 year from the date of application approval, and you can take the exam up to 3 times during this one year.

Your certification cycle starts on the day you pass the exam and are bestowed with the credential. And for credential maintenance, you are required to earn and report 60 PDUs (Professional development units) within this 3- year cycle.

The fees for payment are determined by your PMI membership status

For a PMI member, fees are:

  • $405 for the first attempt.

  • $275 for Reexamination.

  • $60 for Certification Renewal.

For a PMI nonmember:

  • $555 for the first attempt.

  • $375 for Reexamination.

  • $150 for Certification Renewal.

The PMI's membership gives you more benefit check them and Keep in mind, the PMI's membership will apply if you're a member in good standing at the time you submit for certification. Don't apply before making sure you've received confirmation of your membership.


Required Effort & Time for PBA® Credential
